Order flowersDargaville, in the Kaipara District of Northland, was founded in 1872 during the kauri gum and timber trade. Dalmatian migrants were prominent gum diggers, and many residents today are of Croatian descent. The area is one of New Zealand's main kūmara growing regions, and locals call the town the "Kūmara Capital" of New Zealand. About 5,170 people live in the urban area (June 2025 estimate).

Dargaville Hospital at 77 Awakino Road is the local public hospital and health centre, and doctors from Whangārei Hospital run outpatient clinics there. We have not found a published flower rule for Dargaville Hospital, so check with the ward before sending and give the patient's full name. For patients transferred to Whangārei Hospital, Health New Zealand says flowers will be delivered to the patient as soon as they arrive.
Two aged residential care providers are in town: Norfolk Court Home and Hospital at 68 Normanby Street, and Kauri Coast Lifecare at 102 Hokianga Road. A small arrangement in a vase or a potted plant is easier for a resident to enjoy than a large loose bouquet. Include the resident's full name and, if you know it, their room.
Kaipara District Council runs the Old Mt Wesley Cemetery (32 Mt Wesley Coast Road) and the New Mt Wesley Cemetery with the Dargaville RSA (Mt Wesley) Cemetery (118 Mt Wesley Coast Road). Redhill Cemetery, at 114 Redhill Cemetery Road, is in the rural locality of Redhill outside town. Morris & Morris Funerals has a newly built Dargaville funeral home on the corner of Victoria and Gladstone Streets, serving Dargaville, Maungaturoto and the wider Kaipara District.
For a funeral home service, send flowers to the funeral director with the full name of the person who has died and the service date. Te Houhanga Marae (Rāhiri meeting house) on Station Road is a traditional meeting place of Te Roroa and the Ngāti Whātua hapū Te Kuihi; if you are sending condolences for a tangihanga, read our guide to tangihanga and condolences first.
Nearby Ripirō Beach is the longest unbroken stretch of sand beach in New Zealand. If the recipient lives on a rural property, use the RD number exactly as the recipient writes it – the mailtown is where the rural round is based, which may not be Dargaville. Add a phone number, allow extra time, and remember weekend delivery is limited in many rural areas. In town, Holy Trinity Anglican Church at 58 Hokianga Road, a Heritage New Zealand category 2 place, is a useful landmark.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Dargaville.
