Order flowersTauranga is a city in the Bay of Plenty, with an urban population estimated at 160,900 in June 2025. With a maritime temperate climate and about 2,400 sunshine hours a year, it is a place where people enjoy their gardens. Below we have put together what you need to know before sending flowers to a home, a hospital or a funeral in Tauranga.

Tauranga Hospital is one of the easier hospitals in New Zealand to send flowers to. Health New Zealand says you can send mail and flowers directly to the wards throughout the day. To help the delivery go smoothly, include the patient's full name and, if you know it, the ward.
Rules can still differ in some units, and patients are sometimes moved or discharged early. If the person is very unwell, a quick call to the ward first does no harm. Tauranga also has a private hospital, Grace Hospital; we have no published flower rule for it, so ask the hospital before you send.
The Bay of Plenty Garden & Art Festival runs from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November 2026 across Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and the Western Bay of Plenty, with more than 60 gardens open. If you know someone who is going, flowers that week make a fitting thank-you to a garden host, or a treat for a friend who spends the weekend touring gardens.
Tauranga's garden history goes back a long way. The Elms | Te Papa Tauranga garden was laid out at the Church Missionary Society station from the 1830s and is one of the oldest European gardens in New Zealand south of the Bay of Islands. It is recognised as a Garden of National Significance by the NZ Gardens Trust, and the oak at the corner of its north lawn grew from an acorn brought from England by Rev. Brown in 1829.
The countryside around Tauranga has many kiwifruit and avocado orchards, so a fair share of addresses are on rural roads rather than in town. Rural addresses carry an RD number (for example RD 1), and the mailtown on a rural address is where the delivery round is based, not always where the property is. Write the address exactly as the recipient uses it, and expect rural addresses to take longer.
With plenty of sunshine, a few habits help a bouquet last:
Tauranga City Council lists Pyes Pā Memorial Park, which has both a cemetery and a crematorium. The historic Mission Cemetery is closed for burials. For a funeral or memorial service, send flowers to the funeral director or service venue, with the full name of the person who has died and the date and time of the service. Sympathy flowers to the family home a few days later are also welcome. Our funeral flower etiquette guide covers wording and choices.
Florists in Tauranga can also help with orders for nearby Te Puke.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Tauranga.
