Order flowersTokoroa is a town in the South Waikato District, part of the Waikato region, with an urban population estimated at 14,500 in June 2025. It grew up around forestry: Pinus radiata was planted commercially in the district from 1925 to 1935, and the Kinleith Mill lies about 8 km south of town.

Tokoroa's Polynesian Festival is held every September at the South Waikato Events Centre. For performers, tutors and the families who support them, flowers make a lovely congratulations after the big day. Ordering a few days ahead gives the florist time to plan.
Tokoroa has two secondary schools – Tokoroa High School, opened in 1957, and Forest View High School, opened in 1974 – and tertiary study through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. If you are sending sympathy flowers to a family who follow Pacific Island customs, our guide to Pasifika funerals and flowers explains what is usual.
Tokoroa Hospital has 21 beds – a 17-bed inpatient ward and a 4-bed maternity ward – plus a small emergency department. We have not found a published flower rule for it, so check with the ward before sending, and put the patient's full name and ward on the order. If the patient is about to go home, sending flowers to their home avoids a missed delivery.
Less than a kilometre from the hospital, Victoria Place Lifecare at 9 Victoria Place offers rest home, hospital and dementia care. For a resident, a compact arrangement already in a vase is easiest to look after; include the resident's full name, and if they are unwell, check with the staff first.
South Waikato District Council has stated that Tokoroa's cemetery is on Dumfries Road. After a burial the grave is left mounded for 90 days, and wreaths and floral tributes may be placed on the mound during that time. Afterwards, adornments go in approved receptacles on the concrete berm, where space for floral tributes is limited – so a small arrangement suits a later visit better than a large wreath.
For the funeral itself, send flowers to the funeral director or the service venue, with the full name of the person who has died and the date and time of the service. Tokoroa has two marae, Ngātira Marae and Ōngāroto Marae; if you are sending condolences to a tangihanga, our guide to tangihanga and condolences explains what is appropriate.
Climate records for Tokoroa (1973–1981) show a mean daily maximum of 23.8 °C in January and February and a mean daily minimum of just 2.0 °C in July. Rainfall is about 1,658 mm a year, with July the wettest month. In the wet months, ask for a handover in person rather than a doorstep drop-off. Our flower care guide has more tips.
At the southern end of Lake Moana-Nui there are gardens planted by a collective of local school children, and the lakeside has picnic tables and four playgrounds. A pot plant or a small bunch of garden flowers makes a thoughtful thank-you to a teacher, coach or neighbour.
Beyond forestry, the district is home to dairy farming, and in 1995 Fonterra built the southern hemisphere's largest cheese factory at Lichfield, about 5 km north of town. For rural, farm and forestry-area addresses, use the RD number exactly as the recipient writes it, add a phone number, and allow extra time – weekend and public-holiday delivery is limited in many areas. Sending to a nearby town too? See our page for Putāruru.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
