Order flowersArrowtown (Kā-muriwai) is a Queenstown Lakes District town of about 2,860 people on the banks of the Arrow River, 19.5 km east of Queenstown. It began as a gold town: in August 1862 Jack Tewa, known as Maori Jack, found gold in the river, and the settlement was first called Fox's. In the 2020 Keep New Zealand Beautiful awards it was named the most beautiful small town in the country. The historic Chinese Settlement by Bush Creek and the Lakes District Museum, housed in a group of historic buildings, tell the story of the gold-mining years.

Arrowtown holds its Autumn Festival every April. The festival, now in its 41st year, runs 15–18 April 2027, with food, wine, arts, comedy, music and sport. Matariki is marked too: Matariki Arrowtown Lights is a one-day event with light projections down Buckingham Street – our Matariki flower guide has ideas if you want to send something at that time of year. If you are sending flowers during festival week, order early and send to an address where someone will be in – weekend and public-holiday delivery is limited in many areas.
The nearest public hospital is Lakes District Hospital in Frankton, Queenstown. Because fresh flowers pose a risk to patients with respiratory disorders, they cannot be brought into its intensive care unit, high dependency unit, oncology, cardiovascular, respiratory, surgical or medical wards, or multi-bed rooms. Check with the ward before sending. See our Lakes District Hospital page.
Eldernet lists Arvida Queenstown Country Club at 420 Frankton–Ladies Mile Highway, Lake Hayes, as a residential care provider in the area. Include the resident's full name on the order.
St Paul's Anglican church, built in 1871, is the oldest church in Arrowtown. St Patrick's Catholic church on Hertford Street was built between 1873 and 1902 from local schist. Arrowtown Cemetery is the town's cemetery in our data.
The nearest funeral home we can confirm is Southern Lakes Funerals at Unit 2, 26 Glenda Drive, Frankton. Flowers usually go to the funeral home or the family home rather than to the cemetery; our funeral flower guide explains card wording and timing.
Arrowtown's main street sits about 410 m above sea level, and the town has four distinct seasons. February is the driest month, with about 96 mm of rain, and December the wettest, with about 144 mm. Ask for delivery when someone is home, and add a phone number so the driver can make contact. For deliveries in the wider area, see our Queenstown page.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Arrowtown.
