Order flowersParaparaumu is the largest town on the Kāpiti Coast, home to about 29,900 people north of Wellington. Flowers sent here are often for a birthday, a new baby or a family saying goodbye. There are a couple of local details worth knowing first, especially if the recipient is unwell.

The Kāpiti Health Centre at 35 Warrimoo Street has a primary birthing unit but no emergency department. Emergencies go to Wellington Regional Hospital, so a patient from Paraparaumu may well be in Wellington. There, flowers are accepted except in ICU, NICU and Ward 7 South; mark the delivery with the patient's name and ward, and check with the ward before sending.
For a new mother at the birthing unit, ask the family what is welcome before you order. Stays in a primary birthing unit are often short, so flowers sent to the family home a day or two later may be enjoyed for longer, and they will not have to be carried home with a new baby.
Two cemeteries in Paraparaumu are run by the district council:
Flowers for a funeral normally go to the funeral home or the family. Our sympathy flower guide covers wording and etiquette.
The Kāpiti Coast takes its gardens seriously. In 2025 the Waikanae Lions Garden Trail ran on 25 and 26 January and opened 12 private gardens on the coast, including some in Paraparaumu. If you are sending flowers to a keen gardener here, a summer bouquet or a plant for the garden will be well received. Our seasonal flower guide shows what is at its best in each month.
The coast is a string of towns, and it is easy to mix them up. Waikanae lies to the north, and Ōtaki further up the coast. Check the suburb and postcode with the recipient, add a phone number, and order early in the day if the flowers are for a particular date.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Paraparaumu.
