Sending flowers to Hutt Hospital
Hutt Hospital, at 638 High Street in Boulcott, Lower Hutt, is one of the easier hospitals in the Wellington region for flowers. Health NZ's page does not set out any ward restrictions, and it even explains how to order flowers for a patient.
Order by 2 pm on weekdays (11 am Saturdays) for same-day delivery in many areas
- Ward rules quoted from the hospital
- Name and ward on the card
- Local florists deliver the flowers

Flowers accepted: the hospital page tells visitors how to order flowers for a patient from the on-site florist (Flowers Everywhere). No ward restrictions published.
“Florist Flowers Everywhere is located inside the main hospital entrance. To order flowers for a patient: phone: 022 391 9298 order online: Flowers Everywhere”
A florist just inside the doors
Health NZ lists a florist located inside the main hospital entrance, and gives a phone number and an online option for ordering flowers for a patient. That is a good sign that flowers are welcome.
No restricted wards are listed. That said, intensive care and similar units at other hospitals in the region do not allow flowers, so if the patient is very unwell, it is worth ringing the ward. The hospital's number is 04 566 6999.
Ordering from further away
- Use the patient's full name and the ward name, if you know it.
- Use the street address: Hutt Hospital, 638 High Street, Boulcott, Lower Hutt 5010.
- Order early in the day, especially before weekends and public holidays, when delivery is limited in many areas.
Visiting hours at Hutt Hospital
Hutt Hospital visiting hours are 2pm to 8pm, 7 days a week, for most wards. If you are taking flowers in yourself, that afternoon window is a good time to pick something up from the entrance and head up to the ward.
Ordering on the spot also means you can see the flowers before they go to the bedside, and add a handwritten card. If you cannot visit, a delivery addressed with the patient's name and ward reaches them the same way.
Choosing well for a ward
A compact arrangement in its own container travels well and does not need a vase. Lightly scented flowers suit shared rooms. If the patient has a cat or dog at home and the bunch will go home with them, our pet-safe flowers guide is worth a look.
For home deliveries see flower delivery in Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt. Wellington Regional Hospital lists three areas where flowers are not allowed.
Getting to Hutt Hospital
Bus routes 110, 120 and 121 serve the hospital, and Epuni Train Station is a 15-minute walk away. Parking is complimentary for the first 20 minutes, which is handy for a quick drop-off, with fees after that. The emergency department is open 24 hours and is reached via Gate 5.
Wards and services
Health NZ lists these services at Hutt Hospital: emergency, intensive care, maternity, endoscopy, ophthalmology, pain management, palliative care, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory and rheumatology. Because intensive care is on the list, check with the ward before sending if the patient is critically unwell, even though no flower restrictions are published.
Cafe and extra visiting time
The main cafeteria is on the ground floor of the Clock Tower Block, open 6:30am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 9:30am to 6:30pm at weekends. Café Stat is also available. Visiting outside the usual 2pm to 8pm needs approval from the ward charge nurse.
